SEO Tips 2021
When you are working with WordPress and have the Yoast SEO plugin installed, you have the SEO structure setup to get a page rank and the technical work is done for you. The hard part is taking the time to actually do the search engine optimization on your website.
If you have a very small website of 10 pages and under, you might just want to focus on the homepage and figure out a few long-tail keywords you want your business to rank for. If you have a large site with many blog posts, web pages, that is where you can SEO each of those pages and focus on a long-tail keyword per page.
Long-tail keywords are easier to rank for than a single keyword. What is a long-tail keyword? It is simply just a 3 or more word string instead of using one single word. For example: If I have an eCommerce site and I am selling furniture, I would not target ‘furniture’ as my keyword, I would focus on the long-tail keyword, ‘Antique love seat for sale’ as that is what I am selling. You can change ‘love seat’ for other styles of furniture you are selling.
Now that you have a long-tail keyword you are going to focus on per page, it is time to put that keyword into action.
If you are on WordPress and have the yoast plugin installed, the basics are done. Next, take your long tail keyword and following the below steps.
SEO Tips 2021 steps:
- Add the long-tail keyword to the title on your webpage or eCommerce Product page.

- Make sure your keyword is listed 2 to 3 times in your content.

- Yoast installs a description meta tag on your post or page. Fill out the Title and Description tags using your long-tail keyword.

Yoast will there verify if your long-tail keyword has been optimized on your web page by giving you a green button.

After you have optimized your webpage for SEO, it is time to think of a few On-Page SEO and Off-Page SEO tips.
For On-Page SEO you will want to link any keywords used in your content to the other relevant pages on your website which is called internal linking. This will tell Google what pages are relevant for the keyword you are ranking for.
For Off-Page SEO, this is where your social media accounts come in. Post your web pages, posts and product pages to your social media account to promote the site. This will drive traffic to your web page and tell google that the page has some importance. The hardest part of Off-Page SEO is getting back links from top ranking websites to link back to your pages. This is extremely hard to do and I would just focus on the social media aspect and in time, if other websites, forums, social media accounts begin to post your content, that is where you can begin to see a top 5 page rank.
You should also have your website synced to Google Search Console and submit a Google XML sitemap which the Yoast plugin will generate for you. The Search Console will tell you what keyword people are typing in to get to your website and keyword impressions which will tell you which keyowrds you might have to improve upon to drive more web traffic.
Install Google Analytics on your site so you can analyze your web traffic and see where your users are coming from?
Remember SEO takes time and do not expect to get a good Google page rank right away. I always tell clients it takes about a good 6 months before you see some serious results.
